Company sales

Following the approval for bottling water in 1990, the first bottles of water were manufactured in 1992, when permission to operate the Perivleptos plant was granted. The plant began operation with one production line and the sales in the first year of operation amounted to approximately GRD270 million (€790,000).

In 1993, sales almost doubled reaching GRD500 million (€1.5 million). In the years that followed, Epirotiki Bottling Company showed continuous growth and invested as needed to support further development.

In 1995, the company’s sales exceeded GRD1 billion (€3.1 million) while in 1996 «Vikos» water was certified as Natural Mineral Water and sales reached GRD1.2 billion (€3.5 million).

In 1997, approval was granted for bottling table water from the "Sepeta" source. The same year, increased product demand resulted in the company installing a second production line and extending the storage facilities. Sales reached GRD1.5 billion (€4.27 million).

Sales growth continued in 1998, reaching GRD1.88 billion (€5.5 million).

In 1999, two new modern PET bottle manufacturing machines were acquired and installed to replace the PVC bottle with the PET bottle. The investment amounted to a total of €2.7 million, while at the end of 1999 the company’s assets amounted to approximately GRD 1.3 billion (€3.8 million).

Sales’ growth accelerated in the next two years reaching GRD2.9 billion (€8.5 million) in 2000, while in 2001, it topped GRD3.9 billion (€11.4 million) amounting to an increase of 34%!

In 2002, the third production line was installed and the premises were extended and sales reached €12.2 million.

The year 2003 ended with a robust sales growth that topped €18.3 million while the company’s assets were approximately €5.5 million at the end of the year.

In 2004, the fourth, fully equipped production line for bottling still and sparkling natural mineral water in disposable glass bottles was installed and a new investment of €1.5 million was completed. Sales reached €19 million.

The year 2005 began with the construction of the new plant in Kalpaki for bottling water and soft drinks while in the same period, sales reached €26.5 million.

In 2006, approval was granted for bottling “Zagorochoria” Vikos Natural Mineral Water from the “Zagorochoria” source at the company’s new plant and during the same year, it was certified as natural mineral water. In 2006, sales rose by 30% reaching €35 million.

Vikos Natural Mineral Water became the market leader with a 22% market share!

In 2007, sales of all products rose by 43% reaching €49.88 million.

Thus, «Vikos» Natural Mineral Water maintained its leadership according to data provided by Nielsen.

The year 2008 ended with a sales growth of 28.7%, sales reached €64.2 million.

In 2009, sales reached €67.78 million.

The year 2010 ended with sales of €69.1 million. «Vikos» Natural Mineral Water maintained market leadership according to data provided by Nielsen.

In 2011 sales rose by 6.5% reaching €73.5 million.

Company investments

In 1990, approval was granted for bottling water from the «Vikos» source and the construction of the premises began. During 1990-1992 the construction of the premises (industrial factory and offices) and the 1st bottle-bottling-packaging production line was installed. The investment amounted to €1.18 million. In 1992, permission was granted for operating the Perivleptos plant and the bottling of «Vikos» water began.

During 1993-1995 the second line for manufacturing bottles was installed and the storage facilities, which amounted to €640,000, were completed.

During 1996-1997, the construction of the new storage facilities was completed and the first bottle-bottling-packaging production line was upgraded amounting to a €613,000 investment.

In 1998, the second bottle-bottling-packaging production line was installed amounting to €1.6 million.

In 1999, two new PET bottle manufacturing machines were acquired and installed to replace the PVC bottle with the PET bottle at a cost of €2.7 million. In the same year the company was certified for quality assurance with HACCP & ISO 9001.

In 2000, construction of a factory for closures and preforms begun in the Ioannina Industrial Area with an installation of 2 production lines, totaling an outlay of €3,200,000. In the same year, investments at the Perivleptos Factory in Ioannina amounted to €1,300,000.

In 2001, both the first closure manufacturing machine and third preform manufacturing machine were installed at the company’s factory in the Industrial Area of Ioannina amounting to €3.4 million.

The company’s investments continued in 2002 with the installment of the third fully equipped production line and an extension of the premises that amounted to €4.9 million. In the same year, four closure manufacturing machines and one preform manufacturing machine that amounted to €5.1 million, were installed with a total investment of €10 million.

In 2003, the 1,0L PET, glass shaped bottle was launched and the company was certified with ISO 14001 for Environmental Management. Together with the installation of the fifth preform manufacturing machine at the company’s factory in the Industrial Area of Ioannina, the company’s investments amounted to €2.6 million.

In 2004, both the fourth fully equipped production line for bottling still and sparkling natural mineral water in disposable glass bottles and sixth preform manufacturing machine were installed at a cost of €3 million.

2005 began with the company’s €12.7 million investment for the construction of the new plant in Kalpaki (premises and fully equipped production line for bottling water and soft drinks) which were completed in 2006 and constituted a response to increasing product demand.

In 2006, three new preform manufacturing machines were installed at the company’s factory in the Industrial Area of Ioannina and the fifth fully equipped production line was installed (6th line in total) which amounted to €8.8 million. The same year, the company’s investments, including the completion of the new storage facilities in Klapaki, amounted to €13.7 million.

During 2007-2008 the new large 5 and 10L bottles for water coolers were designed. They are produced from the hygienic PET material, are disposable, inflated on site, fully pressurized and easily recycled. In the same period, the installment of the sixth, fully equipped production line at Perivleptos factory (the 7th line in total) for the bottling of «Vikos» Natural Mineral Water in 5L and 10L PET bottles, which amounted to a total investment of €2 million, was completed. At the same time, the second fully equipped production line for bottling water (the 8th line in total) was installed at Kalpaki factory and the tenth preform manufacturing machine and two additional machines for manufacturing closures were installed at the company’s factory in the Industrial Area of Ioannina. For the years 2007-2008 the company’s investments amounted to a total of €21 million.

During 2009-2010 the seventh fully equipped production line was installed and the installment of the eleventh prefrom manufacturing machine and an additional closure manufacturing machine was installed at the Industrial Area of Ioannina. The investments amounted to a total of €11 million for the two year period.
